Carolina Wrens may be small, but they are difficult to ignore. Their expressive faces, upward-tilted tails, and surprisingly loud, animated calls bring energy and personality to even the quietest winter garden.
I created this drawing in honor of a pair of wrens that overwintered in my garden several years ago. On cold days, I would often find them perched on my fence with their feathers puffed against the chill, turning their faces toward the sun for warmth. Their calls continued outside through the winter months, inviting me to pay attention until, eventually, they inspired this drawing.
Each set is produced in my studio using high-quality printing on smooth matte cardstock to preserve the detail and tonal richness of the original drawing.
