Ferns always have an ancient feel to them, belonging today as they did long before long us. Different in structure from modern seed plants, their artful, unfurling fronds emerge from tightly coiled spirals before slowly opening into broad, feathery leaves.
I photographed this fern after being drawn in by the graceful, repeated spirals, rich cinnamon-colored fibers, and radiating green stems surrounding the newly emerging fronds. The stage lasts only a short time before the leaves fully open, making it easy to overlook unless you happen to arrive at just the right moment.
Each print is produced in my studio using archival inks on premium photo paper, preserving the color, detail, and subtle textures of the original photograph.
