Expressive Watercolor
I had a plan for attending a workshop this summer, but life (work travel) derailed it.
With much disappointment (and a little resentment), I sought out an alternative. However, I was highly constrained by the summer schedule at home. That led me to select a course I probably would have never chosen otherwise: Expressive Watercolor with Janet Rogers.
What an unexpected gift.
My classmates were an absolutely wonderful group of people, and Janet’s artwork and approach really have to be experienced in person. She produces remarkable results with a method that feels so intuitive and alive - and she is the most kind and teacher. I’m so glad that circumstance led me to her and her work.
The class pushed me to explore a more expressive style of watercolor, and I’m happy with my initial efforts, particularly for florals (which I generally don’t have the time or patience for). I learned so much, and there is a lot more to explore.
It’s beautiful when plans that don’t work out lead you somewhere most interesting.
Thank you, Janet!
